A few of our favourite books
I’ve always absolutely adored reading, from being a little girl, it’s something that gave me such happiness - curling up in bedtime with a book and reading with my parents. Let me share some of my favourites with you depending on my mood…
A BOOK FOR EVERY MOOD!
So depending on how I’m feeling, where I am, and what the need is, I reach for a different book. Now, I do have a Kindle app (or the app on my iPad anyway) - but let’s face it...nothing beats the feel of a book, the smell of the pages and the pleasure at opening that first page and being hooked into the Author’s world. I get butterflies just thinking about it!
READING WITH KALEB
When I found out I was having a baby (after an infertility rollercoaster and years of heartbreak but that’s another story!), one of the things I would visualise, was sitting with him, on the chair in his room and reading books.
I told my husband, we were going to have a little person who loved books! My hubby would roll his eyes but now he loves that Kaleb loves books! For me, that’s our little thing that we do together - Neil gets the football!
A DAILY HABIT
We have always read every day with Kaleb, usually at bedtime and most mealtimes! When Kaleb was a baby, we just loved reading Guess How Much I Love You to him or If Kisses Were Colours, both were great at bedtime.
My Father-in-Law and my Nanna passed away just after Kaleb was born, and we used No Matter What to help him understand that love goes on, even when we are gone.
When he got a little older, he loved reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea and my bedtime favourite became Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You, as I worked away every week which was tough.
Now though, he’s 5 - and it’s all about Harry Potter! He loves the big illustrated ones and so do we!
HOLIDAY ESCAPE
There is nothing better than a book on holiday is there? Lounging about around the pool with a glass of champagne any time after lunch (or before, I’m not here to judge!).
Now when I’m on holiday, I’m all about reading stuff that makes me chuckle or just grab me and pull me into another world straight away, as the rest of the time, I’m usually reading books that are a little more serious.
My all time favourite holiday book is Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes. I mean I love all of her books, but this one especially had me in laughing like a loony on the lounger!
At the other end of the spectrum, The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans just takes my breath away. I’ve read it so many times now but I never get fail to be gripped by the stunningly descriptive writing. The other book that gets me the same way, is The Bridges of Madison County...oh my days! Floods of tears every single time!
You’ll find some of my other favourite books in our shop - we put in here the ones which will help you on your journey of self-development and self-exploration. Books are amazing ways to do this, and can work very well in conjunction with having a Coach!
What’s your favourite book? Have you got one you can read over and over again? I would love to hear!
Big love,
